Global Customer
Database for Telecommunications Company: |
 |
This data-warehousing project required
an ETL process to Extract, Transform and Load data into
a Redbrick data warehouse. |
 |
Our client had plants and sales offices
all over the world. All the locations had different applications
(including Oracle Financial, BAAN and SAP-R3) with their
own individual customer databases. These databases needed
to be consolidated, and a Global Customer Database needed
to be created, that would give our client the ability
to consolidate sales and develop CRM systems. |
 |
The process involved writing scripts
and algorithms for data cleaning, and creating a hierarchy
for the customer companies. |
 |
The entire process of extracting files,
cleaning data, and then loading data into the Redbrick
Data Warehouse was completely automated and was run daily.
The process also recognized new customers, and allocated
to them a Global ID that was communicated to all systems
worldwide. |
 |
This application was developed using
MS Access, Oracle PL/SQL, Redbrick and Oracle performance
tuning, ERWIN for Architecture and Design, and Brio as
the distributed reporting tool. |
